What Are You Waiting For?

There is always a reason not to go. Most guys say no 5 times before even considering something new, something for themselves.

You’re busy. Work is crazy. The kids have something going on. You haven’t been to Mass in years. You don’t really know anyone. Your relationship with God isn’t what it should be. Maybe you’re not even sure what you believe anymore.

Or maybe the truth is simpler...

You’re uncomfortable with what might happen if you actually give God your attention.

Most men are good at staying busy. We work. We provide. We fix things. We solve problems. We take care of everyone around us. And when something inside of us isn’t right, we do what men have been doing forever—we bury it under another day of being busy.

Until being busy stops working.

Maybe your marriage isn’t where you want it to be. Maybe you’ve become distant from your children. Maybe there’s anger you can't let go of, someone you haven't forgiven, something you've done that you can't forgive yourself for, or a habit you know has far more control over you than you're willing to admit.

Maybe nothing is obviously wrong at all.

You simply know there should be more...

More purpose. More peace. More meaning. More of the man you thought you would become. Whatever the reason, somewhere along the way, God became less important.

Three weeks from now, a group of men will gather for Cornerstone!

They won't gather because they have everything figured out. Quite the opposite.

Seven ordinary men will stand in front of other men and tell the truth about their lives...

the good, the ugly, the failures, the wounds, the doubts, and the moments when God showed up where they least expected Him.

No preaching.

No pretending.

No requirement that you walk through the door as some perfect Catholic.

Just men willing to tell you where they've been and what Christ has done with the pieces.

Two thousand years ago, Jesus didn't build His Church by searching for perfect men. He called fishermen, a tax collector, a zealot, doubters, hotheads, sinners and eventually a man who would deny even knowing Him.

Then He changed them.

Peter didn't become Peter because he was strong enough.

He became Peter when he finally understood that he wasn't.

That's a lesson most of us spend a lifetime resisting.

We think surrender means weakness. Christianity teaches exactly the opposite. The moment we finally admit that we cannot carry everything ourselves is often the moment Christ can begin doing something with us.

Maybe you've been away from the Church for twenty years.

Come.

Maybe you attend Mass every Sunday but haven't felt close to God in years.

Come.

Maybe you're angry with the Church.

Come.

Maybe you have questions you think you're not supposed to ask.

Come.

Maybe your wife, friend, brother or father sent you this and you've already decided Cornerstone isn't your thing. Especially you. You don't need to have your faith figured out before you walk through the door.

You just need to walk through the door.

Christ will handle the rest.

Three weeks.

What are you waiting for?
