There comes a time in every man’s life when he stands at a crossroads. He may not even realize he’s there. Work, marriage, fatherhood, friendships—somewhere along the way, faith became just another checkbox on a long list of responsibilities. Maybe it got pushed to the bottom. Maybe it fell off completely. And maybe, if we’re being honest, it was never really there to begin with.
I know that road because I walked it. I was raised Jewish but never identified as one. Faith was something I studied, not something I lived. Eventually, I abandoned it altogether. For years, I thought I had outgrown God, until one day, He made it clear that He had never abandoned me. My journey to Catholicism was not one of comfort but of confrontation—with myself, my life, and the truths I had spent years avoiding. It was a conversion of fire, the kind that leaves nothing but Christ standing when the flames die down.
That’s why I stand here today, making this invitation to you. Cornerstone is not just another retreat. It’s not a weekend of empty words or surface-level faith. It is an encounter—a moment where men stop running, stop hiding, and finally face the God who has never stopped calling them home. It's where you hear other men tell the truth, unfiltered and unpolished, about their struggles, their failures, their doubts, and how some have found a new life of grace. It is where you realize you are not alone.
The Church is bleeding. Men have stepped back when they were meant to stand up. Families are suffering because fathers and husbands have lost their fire. Too many of us have been convinced that faith is passive, that our job is simply to show up at Mass when it’s convenient and hope our children follow along, and that our wives won't tire of being alone. That is a lie. Christ did not call men to be spectators—He called us to be warriors.
At Cornerstone, you will hear stories of brokenness redeemed, of addictions overcome, of marriages restored, of fences mended, of hearts set ablaze with a faith they never thought possible. But more importantly, you will be challenged. Challenged to surrender. Challenged to take ownership of your faith. Challenged to be the man God created you to be.
